Waking up to be 18 was made to feel like an achievement, as strange as it may sound, I'd done it , hit double figures...soared through my sweet sixteens, the seventeens had flew by, and here I am landed, ready for life as an 18 year old. Life as a responsible adult... (haha) Adult life is treating me well so far (4 days in and going strong) ,no official limitations, no awkward I'd lying, and most importantly (of course) no longer subjected to being a 'child' that is legally binded to my parents, I'm free .. and the worlds mine for the taking ... Birthdays are always amazing though, who doesn't enjoy being treated like a superstar? ,especially when you have some fantastic friends! As birthday cliches go its almost tradition to receive cards with a million and one different combo's of 'happy birthday have a great day' ' Hope you have a lovely 18th' 'Happy 18th' , and so on and so forth, each message trying to be individual in their own little way of writing happy birthday, that's untill you get the card with ' wooo your 18 you can now vote,' written inside and you really do wonder why on earth you are friends with that person .. originality 100 points , level of coolness .. frozen in the minus numbers !!! But besides the many cards, all the traditional presents arrived- standard birthday Socks and even some slippers - being an adult really must be good. By-passing the sarcasm for a little while and on a more serious note, i really did receive some amazing gifts; thoughtful ones too, as the best sort of presents are the ones that have an underlying meaning, obvious to the eye or representative to a memory or feeling which shows how much a person means to you! (cue the 'aww's'). I know, I know, I'm a thinker but being overwhelmed by all the thought people put in, isn't something I will forget (you're going to need a tissue soon- so I will wrap this up - excuse the pun). Having a smile firmly fixated on my face, cake for breakfast lunch and tea, well wishes and the best birthday presents a girl could wish for answers my question I think... being 18 is AWESOME !!
